Seesmart Leads Lighting Retrofit of Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center to Reduce Carbon Footprint by 74 Tons

The Manhattan-based hospital commissioned Seesmart to retrofit nearly 700 fixtures with LED tube lights, resulting in immediate cost savings.

LED lighting manufacturer Seesmart Technologies, Inc. (OTC: SEST.PK) announced today the completion of a retrofit project that replaced nearly 700 fixtures at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York City. The hospital is one of the worlds premier cancer centers and combines excellent patient care with leading research and educational programs.

By switching from fluorescent T8s and T12s to Seesmart T8s in the facilitys parking garage, the hospitals energy cost has been reduced by almost 57 percent. Memorial Sloan-Kettering also slashed its energy consumption by 160,000 kWh annually, awarding the hospital a $22,000 rebate from energy company Con Edison. The Center anticipates a full return on investment within two years.

Following its work with Memorial Sloan-Kettering, Seesmart was commissioned by two neighboring organizations one residential center and one medical center to help transition from low-efficiency fluorescent lights to sustainable Seesmart LED tube lights.

The return on investment for this project will come not just from the $2,500 per month in energy savings, but also from lower maintenance costs and less facility waste, said Kenneth Ames, CEO of Seesmart Technologies, Inc.
