Swarco Parking Guidance System Bergisch- Gladbach (D)

The starting point

The city of Bergisch-Gladbach, with its 110.000 citizens, is located approx. 10 km eastwards of Köln.

A new dynamic Parking Guidance System was installed, in order to achieve a more efficient usage of the existing parking facilities in the city.

The SWARCO Solution

8 Parking facilities are integrated in the new dynamic Parking Guidance System. A special feature is the open parking facility called Schnabelsmühle, in which the entering and leaving cars are detected via Video technology.

at a total of 29 Variable Message Signs (VMS). Among these VMS, there are also 5 VMS with 2-line information displays, which can show information about local events or similar. The VMS are equipped with LCD-displays, backlighted by energy- saving LED-technology.

The Parking Guidance Computer was realized as a „Software as a Service“ Solution. SWARCO hosts and operates the server in their computer center. The employees of the City of Bergisch- Gladbach can connect to the system and work with it after logging in with user name and password. A Parking Guidance Server on-site is not needed.

The data transmission between the Parking Guidance Computer, the connected VMS and the parking facilities is executed via mobile GPRS communication.
