Signalbau Huber Installs a new Parking Management System in Singen

Dynamic system links eight multistorey car parks and two car parks. Latest LCD technology informs motorists about currently available parking spaces. Signalbau Huber transfers "ready-to-use" system
Signalbau Huber GmbH has installed and recently put into operation a new, dynamic parking management system at Hohentwiel. Thus, eight public multistorey car parks and two large car parks have been linked with a total of 20 locations in the municipal area. A total of 58 variable traffic signs and 21 static information signs, installed by Signalbau Huber within the framework of the project at the most important roads and traffic hubs, now indicate the route to the public parking areas.

The variable traffic signs have three-digit LCD displays that indicate the the number of actually available parking spaces in the respective multistorey car parks and car parks to the motorists and, thus, dynamically guide the traffic. Five of the display boards also have an additional two-digit LCD display to indicate special information, such as event notes. By this means, the parking management system guides the traffic dynamically and with regard to the current traffic situation and effectively reduces the time spent and the distances covered for the search of parking spaces.

The new parking management system in Singen records the number of vehicles entering and leaving at a total of ten parking areas in the municipal area and reports this via radio data transmission to the central control. There, the software developed by Signalbau Huber calculates the number of available parking spaces. The system transmits this information, again via radio data transmission, within seconds to the total of 58 variable traffic signs with integrated LCD display. The liquid crystal technology applied here ensures excellent legibility of the display through its enormous luminosity and high contrast also under adverse conditions such as direct sunlight. It is also particularly energy-saving, which ensures sustainable low operating costs.

As system provider, Signalbau Huber not only provided the dynamic and static traffic signs, but also the centre for the control and monitoring of the system. Furthermore, the specialists from Signalbau Huber installed the corresponding system-software, developed by the programmers in-house. After a short test phase, Signalbau Huber transferred the parking management system, completely functional, to the town of Singen at the beginning of 2010.

In the Southern Baden town of Singen, Signalbau Huber has installed a new dynamic parking management system.
