VINCI awarded the future concession for the new Nantes airport

A 55-year concession to operate the existing Nantes Atlantique and Saint-Nazaire Montoir airports beginning on 1 January 2011 and to operate the new Grand Ouest - Notre Dame des Landes airport
The French government (the General Department of Civil Aviation) has just appointed the consortium led by VINCI Concessions, in partnership with Entreprise de Travaux Publics de lOuest (ETPO CIFE) and the Nantes-Saint Nazaire Chamber of Commerce and Industry, to hold the 55-year concession to operate the airports of Nantes Atlantique and Saint-Nazaire Montoir as from 1 January 2011, as well as to design, finance, build, operate and maintain the new airport, Grand Ouest Notre-Dame des Landes.

The design-construction consortium will consist of VINCI Construction France, Eurovia and Entreprise de Travaux Publics de lOuest (ETPOCIFE). It will use the services, in particular, of the architect Jacques Ferrier, landscaper Bernard Lassus, ADPi for the airport engineering, as well as the following consultancies: Sogreah (infrastructure), SCE (space planning), SETEC (construction) and Elithis (energy).

Operation of the airport will be carried out by VINCI Airports, a subsidiary of VINCI Concessions, in partnership with the Nantes-Saint Nazaire Chamber of Commerce and Industry with the aim of promoting the economic growth of the Great West region of France.

Notre Dame des Landes will be the first airport to have a positive energy balance thanks to its simple and effective design. Conceived with the aim of preserving the natural state of the site and protected natural spaces, it will be adapted to the economy of air transport in the future and to meeting new expectations for service quality.

This project is in line with the planned expansion of VINCI Airports, which manages six airports in France - Grenoble, Chambéry, Clermont-Ferrand, Quimper and, in partnership, those of Rennes and Dinard as well as three international airports in Cambodia, which represent 4.6 million passengers a year. VINCI Concessions is also contributing to the creation of the centre for aircraft leasing companies at the Nice Côte dAzur airport and to Rhonexpress, the express tramway that will serve the Lyon Saint-Exupéry airport and that will come into service on 9 August 2010. Today, VINCI Airports is the benchmark partner for French airports.
