An answer to parking worries
AL AIN — Four UAE University engineering students have designed a path-breaking Automated Parking System (APS) using wireless communication technology.
The functions of the system include navigating the user to an available parking slot and storing the entrance time and calculating the charge. The system consists of a user interface at the entrance of the parking garage, which allows the driver to view all available parking spaces.
The project team comprising Mariam Al Marzouqi, Mona Naser, Rose Kama and Sameera Bashi Abdullah worked under the supervision of Dr Mohammed Abdel Hafez, project adviser, and Dr Jehad Mohaidat, co-adviser.
"The system will eliminate the time the drivers are forced to waste as they circle various parking garage floors looking for a slot," said Dr Hafez, adding: “The usefulness of this project lies with the fact that it regulates the operation of a parking facility in malls and shopping centres."
