Senior Developer (Newcastle, UK)

About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior.NET developer with a strong background in building scalable, predictable, high-quality and high-performance web applications on the Microsoft technology stack. As a Senior Developer, you will be responsible for building and maintaining internal and external- facing web applications. This person will work with a team of experienced analysts, developers and business resources to build highly-performing enterprise web and eCommerce systems.

What you’ll do

  • Build new systems with .NET 4.0 / ASP.NET / VB.NET / C# /SQL Server 2008 / WCF Web Services / WCF Data Services, Episerver (Highly Desirable)
  • Continue to develop new functionality on all our existing/new software products
  • Lead/mentor developers and share knowledge through knowledge-sharing presentations.
  • Participate in a small, experienced, energetic team on a rapid, agile development schedule.
  • Manage and plan development resources and current off shore Dev team.
  • Create technical specifications and software development standards and work packages
  • Own and maintain a Corporate Software Development Lifecycle
  • Track software bugs/issues and maintain a full software test strategy
  • Review product requirements in order to give development estimates and product Feedback
  • Work together with team leads to plan and execute projects, ensure that teams have appropriate product and technical specifications, direction, and resources to deliver products effectively by establishing realistic estimates for timelines while ensuring that projects remain on target to meet deadlines.
  • Track and report the status of projects on various teams, acting as a gateway through which work should be assigned to appropriate teams while ensuring that project scope is adequately defined
  • Demonstrate leadership abilities to our clients with the deployment of software enhancements and fixes that are coordinated based on release schedules.
  • Demonstrate a software plan that meets the future needs of our clients on technical challenges of industry demands.
  • Serve as the technical lead in all client meetings which have implemented APCOA’s ecommerce products.
  • Evolve the existing software system applications and architecture in various areas as needed.
  • Helping developers resolve problems both technical as well as human resources issues , tracking and approving vacation and personal days for employees within their teams and monitoring individual employees’ performance and relaying this to upper management.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to coach, motivate, and lead team members to their optimum performance levels and career development.
  • Manage APCOA’s off shore development resources

What You'll Bring

  • Proven experience of developing Windows based client/server or distributed software solutions to consistent quality standardsASP.NET and either C# or VB.NET
SQL Server
  • Proven experience in .NET Framework and C#/ASP.NET development
  • Proven ability in front-end GUI design and development
  • Ability to design and optimize SQL Server 2008 stored procedures and database objects
  • Thorough understanding of CSS
  • Demonstrable experience working on N-tier architectures
  • Perform code reviews of fellow developers and team
  • Solid understanding of the full development life-cycle
  • Knowledge of Agile development methodologies (e.g. XP, Scrum) E
  • Commerce software development and/ or related software experience with a large project strongly preferred.
  • Strong leadership, project management skills, time management, and problem solving skills.
  • Be able to excel in idea generation, evaluation, and prioritization, customer and partner 
engagement, cross-functional technical program management and building/ developing 
great engineering teams.
  • Experience solving complex and large-scale software problems.
  • A record successful delivery of software systems as an individual, team leader and or/ 
development manager.
  • A willingness to dive into software environments and technical issues as part of 
maintaining the skills necessary to manage and advocate products and projects.
  • Ability to work with technical and non-technical business owners to get things done.
