The Cloud Architect is responsible for designing the architecture for enterprise applications in AWS. This position requires focused execution and guidance of the team accomplishing the roadmap, both from a business and technical perspective.
The Architect will lead the Engineering team in the development of new and existing enterprise software. This role also includes oversight of the engineering of custom solutions for key customers as deemed necessary to acquire or retain strategic business.
This role will be both a leader and a technologist with more emphasis as a cloud technologist. Success in this role requires working collaboratively and in conjunction with the different disciplines of the business along with senior leadership to successfully deliver profitable growth to this business and meet the needs of our customers.
Responsibilities and Duties
Formulate and execute the technology vision and direction of connectivity technologies and platforms
Define and Document architecture
Conduct reviews and get buy-in for architecture from stakeholders
Communicate and collaborate with engineers to review architecture
Continuously refine processes to improve quality and throughput that are highly measurable
Plan and manage multiple simultaneous enterprise-level system development projects
Support sales efforts with marketing and negotiating where necessary
Perform other duties/projects as assigned
Qualifications and Required Skills
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a BSEE, or a BS in a technically-related field, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
Minimum of five (5) years of software development experience with AWS is required
Experience working in a global team-oriented culture and environment
Hands-on with using AWS Console and native AWS cloud technologies
Experience driving DevOps principles and culture to transition applications from engineering to operations with automated CI/CD pipelines with a balanced approval process
Make decisions on when to use relational databases and when to use and NoSQL or timeseries databases. When to use IaaS and when to use PaaS
Have an automation mindset, if a task needs to be repeated in needs to be automated with software
Experience migrating a client-server application to native cloud applications
Experience with AWS IoT Core is required
Experience with JIRA and Confluence is required
