Cleverciti Systems continues to expand faster: More than 2.8 million euros funding raised to support smart parking solution

Cleverciti Systems smart parking solution

Munich-based Cleverciti Systems GmbH is accelerating the introduction of its sensor-based smart parking technology following a funding boost totaling more than EUR 2.8 million in November 2015.

The round was led by SPDG, a Belgian single family office. SPDG is the family office of the Périer-D’Ieteren family, which, together with the other founding members of the D’Ieteren family, co-controls D’Ieteren, S.A.; a quoted company in the automotive industry.

SPDG invested EUR 1.3 million in equity in Cleverciti over the summer. Additionally, another family fund contributed EUR 220.000 and German KFW Bank invested another EUR 1.3 million in equity capital from the ERP Start Fund.

Cleverciti Systems appOver the past three years, Cleverciti Systems has been developing disruptive smart parking solutions to help transform the daily nightmare of searching for a parking space into a predictable, stress-free experience. It has developed a reliable and cost-effective sensor for on-street and open-air parking spaces. A single sensor can detect up to 100 parking spaces and can easily be mounted on a building façade, street lamp or electrical post.

The sensor then transmits the real-time status of those parking spaces (whether they are free or occupied) to mobile devices, navigation devices and local parking guidance systems. Private and public parking operators can thus gather highly valuable information about parking space availability and the moment-by-moment utilization of their parking spaces.

"This funding will allow us to install our Cleverciti solution in different settings: on-street parking, park and rides, corporate parking lots, mall and amusement park parking lots, etc. — and to help more parking operators, cities and citizens make the most of their parking experience by saving time, decreasing pollution, and streamlining the process,” said Thomas Hohenacker, CEO of Cleverciti Systems.

“It is very important to empower drivers looking for parking to make intelligent decisions based on real-time information and facts, rather than luck or coincidence,” Mr. Hohenacker said.

About Cleverciti SystemsCleverciti Systems GmbH logo

Cleverciti Systems has developed a cost-efficient smart parking solution to monitor parking space availability in real-time. Cleverciti sensors analyze, identify and measure the size of occupied and free parking spaces across entire streets or large parking areas, motorway service areas and truck parking. They can be mounted on walls or on existing — turning them into “smart lampposts.” The exact GPS coordinates of each free or occupied parking space are sent directly from the sensors in real-time to mobile devices, navigation devices and local parking guidance systems for motorists’ benefit. Cities and parking operators also receive valuable data; not just about the availability of parking spaces but also in terms of payment data, utilization of the parking spaces and other statistics.

Cleverciti has successfully implemented its smart parking solution in Germany, the Netherlands and soon, many more to come. The company was founded by Thomas Hohenacker in 2012 and is headquartered in Starnberg, Germany.
