MobileNOW! Completes Full Expansion in Fort Lee, New Jersey

MobileNOW!, a world-class leader in mobile payment solutions for parking, has fully expanded mobile payments throughout New Jersey’s Borough of Fort Lee, a community highly traveled by commuters traveling to and from New York City.

Initially implemented in three off-street locations, the MobileNOW! app is ready for use in all on-and-off-street parking locations managed by the Fort Lee Parking Authority. The expansion has nearly tripled the availability of mobile payment in Fort Lee.

On behalf of the Parking Authority Commissioners and its Administration, we are very pleased to have successfully expanded mobile payment in Fort Lee,” said Gloria Gallo, Executive Director for the Fort Lee Parking Authority. “We have been impressed with MobileNOW!’s responsiveness and flexibility during the extensive development currently taking place in Fort Lee.

Prior to the expansion, Fort Lee’s transient parkers paid for parking based on their specific space number. Through the MobileNOW! app, the Borough is able to leverage a pay-by-plate payment model, which makes paying for parking more convenient by entering the parker’s license plate one time only.

Gallo added, “We are excited to be steps closer to utilizing electronic permits, a decision that we believe will streamline parking across the board.

License plate-based parking is phase I of Fort Lee’s initiative toward a total virtual permit program, which will incorporate License Plate Recognition (LPR) software.

We are thrilled to expand throughout Fort Lee, the gateway to New York City,” said John Oglesby, MobileNOW! President and CEO. “Thousands of commuters pass through Fort Lee daily, often using multiple modes of transportation. We are confident that our mobile payment platform will continue to provide convenience and peace of mind for parkers. And we look forward to myriad efficiencies for the Parking Authority.

Since the expansion in December, mobile payment adoption in Fort Lee has increased by nearly 50%.

About Fort Lee Parking Authority

The Fort Lee Parking Authority is a statutory parking agency, established in 1954 by the Fort Lee Mayor and Council under N.J.S. 40:11A. The Borough then had a population of approximately 16,000, as compared to the present population estimated at 38,000. The Parking Authority started with five Commissioners.

Today, the Parking Authority is involved not only in parking, but over the years at the request of Mayor and Borough Council also agreed to provide bus transportation to seniors; non-emergency medical transportation; a main street shuttle for everyone, and a ferry shuttle service; developing and operating a Residential Parking Program; and administering the Borough Street Sweeping Program. Further, it established small off-street parking lots, handicap parking spaces, and is an integral part of the Borough's Emergency Management Team. All of its services are provided to benefit Fort Lee's residents and businesses.
